Senior Spotlight - Carolyn Etzel

Etzel is a Theatre and Bi-Vocational Theology double major who likes taking naps, coffee table books, and large bodies of water.

Etzel has been involved in Alpha Psi Omega, Theta Alpha Kappa, Numerous Lee Theatre productions, both acting and scene construction, School of Religion student worker, Theatre student worker, and a School of Music student worker.

Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you great and hidden things which you have not known.”

Etzel's parents forced her to join Kairos and she is very grateful that they did. One of her favorite memories was that her "freshman cohort would gather at the cafeteria fire pits and do homework and wreak havoc. Many a bad decision made."

Etzel plans to get "a PhD in theological aesthetics, studying the intersections of fine arts (mostly theatre) and theology. I am going to do this by getting married and becoming a housewife. After my fiancé graduates, we will move to where I am studying. I will also perform at any given opportunity."

Advice to leave later cohorts: "There are no normal semesters. Your expectations for what college will look like will die a thousand fiery deaths before you graduate. Grieve those expectations and then let go of them. Your flourishing is scarier and better than that."

Congratulations Carolyn!
